3D Printer - Software Demo

Hi Guys,

Very short demo from the software we are developing for the 3D Printer.

I will soon post more details as well FAQ 4:

Main question I received is about the kit availability - Answer: We intend to release by the end of this year, pre-orders will be open soon.

Regards,

Junior

  1. Can the software set the wall thickness of a model?
Or is that something that has to be handled while creating the 3d model?

  2. Very interesting! Can´t wait for more info, especially on the hardware front.

  3. Yes, Jeff has an interesting question there. How to prepare a model with small details. An arm of a figure should be hollow, but fingers not.

  6. Hi again Junior,
I saw you write that "the support structures can be made using the same resin material", but I haven't seen any examples of this yet.

Does the printer software add the necessary support structures automatically? And, how possible are moveable parts like ball bearings using the same resin material as a support?

Thanks! I check your blog multiple times daily!

  7. I think you will have to add the support structures by yourself. As far as i can see the printer software is building multiple images of your 3D model. Layer by layer is than getting illuminated. But if you can build an 3D model by yourself you can add some support structures. If you have messed the first 5-10 models you will know where to add them.

    @Junior
Thanks for the pics with the ruler. The details are very nice. Now i can imagine the whole thing. :) I cant wait to pre-order your parts! =)

  8. Hi, very exiting. Could you say, what will be the price of your kit ? I hope you do not change your mind to provide kit. ?I always fallow your profile. I am looking to your links all the time :) I am jealous that I can't be like you :) Have a nice days. Good work.

  9. What kind of files can it import?

  10. this is great work Junior! Cant wait to preorder

  11. I kind of wish I had not seen your video and pictures before the kit was released. Because now I can't wait to build a 3D printer that can achieve this kind of detail. I have so many characters and other ideas I'd love to print without having to worry about volume costs!

  14. Hi Junior,

I'm from Russia and I'm very excited with your technology. Can you drop me a line to "mail at answe dot ru" for asking some questions about your printer and technology? I really can't ever understand what material you use - how this resin cured from light?

Currently I successfully promote Reprap printers in Russian social nets and blogs, and I want to collaborate with you to promote your printer too.

  15. Ola, Junior

    Impressionante! (muito impressionante!)
Eu imprimo meus modelos na shapeways, e foi nos foruns de lá que eu conheci seu projeto. Esta impressora serveria para fazer modelos de joias em cera?

  16. Hi Junior, amazing work you're doing here! I am dying here waiting for when this will be released and I already have money set aside for when pre-orders begin! I would like to ask though, can you try to print a larger/heavier object (closer to the max theoretical dimensions you mentioned in an earlier post) so we can see what this design is capable of? I am interested in prototyping and I would like it to be flexible in what kind of objects it can print.

    Thanks!

  17. I've been researching rapid manufacturing and 3D printers for a while now and this is a particularly impressive one! I might buy or build this. But as some of my requirements are to be self reliant I have a question.

By self reliance I mean I should be able to get all the materials I need locally if I need to which could be important if, say, the products are ever discontinued. This isn't to say that I *will* get all the materials locally and build it myself, simply that I should be able to.

You say 90% of this will be open source, does this include the resins used? If I really wanted or needed to would I be able to make the resins myself provided I have the machinery and chemicals to do so?

    Thanks!

  18. Great !
wait for your specification & price.

  19. I was wondering if the kit will be less then $4,000 ?

And the rough price range to produce per lb?

This way I will know if its outside of my range ?

  20. Really amazing! found strolling through youtube, I saw and loved your project, both hardware and software, seem best to use. Once I move (to take one or two years) want to buy your printer if it is already available, preferably fully assembled, I live in Brazil, there are plans to sell to the outside when it's ready? Once again, congratulations for the great work and hope that you rent a lot of money for the project and it deserves!

  21. The software looks more than professional! Both software and hardware will hit the 3dp market for good!
    Can't wait to have it!

  22. Hi Junior,

I now follow your project for a while and I am very interested in what you're currently doing!

Is there any way to get in contact with each other? Please let me know something!

  25. Hi Junior,

I noticed the Video is an APPLE MAC package, have you any plans to make a .NET or Open Source ms-Windows Package? i MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP.

    CONGRATULATIONS......
YOUR'S IS THE ONLY 3D PRINTER I'VE SEEN TO DATE THAT ISN'T AFRAID TO SHOW QUALITY PHOTO'S AND VIDEO OF THE RESOLUTION OF THE PRODUCT. MY ONLY RECONTAMINATION WOULD BE TO ADD TIME TAKEN TO PRINT IN THE TIME LAPSE VIDEO'S.

I THINK IT WOULD BE A GREAT MARKETING TOOL TO SHOW THE OUTPUT OF VELOSO AGAINST THERMO EXTRUSION OPEN SOURCE PRODUCTS. AND ALSO ADD SOUND, AS YOUR UNIT MUST BE QUIETER WITH LESS MOVING PARTS.

GREAT WORK BY THE WAY, CAN'T WAIT

About the Project

I have been dreaming about having a 3D Printer at home for many years, but the ones with good quality are not affordable and the low costs just deliver poor quality. Sounds crazy but I decided to build a high resolution 3D Printer by myself at home (people actually said that I was crazy and this was impossible). The funny thing I never saw this type of machines in real life, and still haven’t seen one besides the one I built.

Now that I succeed building the first prototype, the target is to bring this low cost 3D Printer to every home, so we are developing the first affordable one with high resolution.

I hope you enjoy our blog, follow us and you can have this printer in your home soon.
