  2. unbelievable! the level of detail is astonishing!

for me as a product designer there is one question: how well can the resin be finished (sanding paper, primer, spray paint) ?

process i use like fdm and z-printer demand quite a bit of time to get a really nice end result for design models.

even objet , which has a real nice detailed surface, can be tiresome due to the hard-to-reomve support material.

thanks again for sharing! totally exciting!

  3. Hi Martin,

    Thank you for your comments!!

The resin hardness is around 80, which is very very hard... kind of ABS plastic.

After the final curing that could be done in sun or UV oven you can finish using any process for finishing in plastic... sanding paper, paint, (not sure what is primer), bond, etc...

This process is at least 2 times faster than fdm and z printer as I print the full layer at the time. Around 25 seconds per full layer.

The finishing on this process is very simple as the printer part is ABS like plastic and the resolution is incredible. I didn't achieve the best resolution as I am still using some workaround for the teflon. Additionally I stop the printer many times, actually you can see a line under the Venus nose, is the place I stop it to check.

It is easy to remove the material from the support as the material won't achieve the final hardness after printing, just after the final curing.

    Thanks!!

    Cheers,

    Jr

About the Project

I have been dreaming about having a 3D Printer at home for many years, but the ones with good quality are not affordable and the low costs just deliver poor quality. Sounds crazy but I decided to build a high resolution 3D Printer by myself at home (people actually said that I was crazy and this was impossible). The funny thing I never saw this type of machines in real life, and still haven’t seen one besides the one I built.

Now that I succeed building the first prototype, the target is to bring this low cost 3D Printer to every home, so we are developing the first affordable one with high resolution.

I hope you enjoy our blog, follow us and you can have this printer in your home soon.
